Since November 2018, the OptionTree plugin (OT) has been removed from the WordPress plugin repository and it will not be developed by its developer any further. This change impacts most of our themes as they use the plugin for managing custom fields and theme options.
So, we needed to find an alternative and we finally chose the Advanced Custom Fields PRO plugin (ACF).
Here’s a list of the themes that are affected by this change:
|Themes||Target Version||Update Status|
We are updating them to include the ACF plugin and the data migration functionality (for transferring the data from OT to ACF) starting from Kathy. The target version means the version that will include this major update, and the status indicates the current development of the update.
So, what do you need to do exactly?
If you are using any of the themes listed above and its status is already marked as “Done”, please update it to the target version. After updating, you should see a notification on the back-end about the OT plugin and a new required plugin, ACF, like the screenshot below.
The next thing to do is to install the ACF plugin by clicking the “Begin installing plugin” link you see in the notification. After installing and activating the ACF plugin, you will see another notification about the data migration as showing below. Just click the button to start migrating the data from OT to ACF.
Once it is completed, please check if all of your custom field data is migrated to ACF and showing up correctly on both back-end and front-end, and then you can safely disable the OT plugin.
But if your theme’s status from the table above is “In Progress”, it means we are still working on it; we will release the update soon.
We have been trying to make the overall transition smooth as much as possible. However, if you have got any questions or troubles, please don’t hesitate to contact us at https://uxbarn.ticksy.com/.
